Sun Cream
A tan body is beautiful, but the sun's rays are also dangerous for your skin. As soon as the sun shines, no matter what time of year, you should use sunscreen. The rule of thumb is a sun protection factor of 30 for the face.
Some makeup products contain sun protection factor (SPF), this doesn't replace a proper sunscreen, but it's a good start for everyday use.
Here is a short summary of which sun protection factor you should use:
UV index: 0-3
You only need sun protection if you have very light skin.
UV index: 3-6
Here you should use a sunscreen with a factor of 15, preferably waterproof. If possible, stay in the shade between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
UV index: 6-8
With a UV index of 6 -8 you should use at least a sun protection factor of 30, preferably waterproof. Stay in the shade between 12pm-3pm.
UV index: 8-10
Here you should use a sun protection factor of at least 30, preferably waterproof. If possible, feel free to use a higher factor. Between 12pm-3pm you should stay in the shade or indoors if you are going to be outside the rest of the day.
UV index: 10+
With this very high UV index, you should use a sunscreen with SPF 50. It's best to stay indoors between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. and in the shade the rest of the day.
Do you want to know what the UV index is today? There are various apps that inform you about this.
Also remember to apply enough sunscreen, we often don't use enough sunscreen. Approximately a handful of sunscreen applies to the body. You should also reapply your cream every 2 hours. Even if you've been in the water or sweated a lot, you should refresh your sunscreen.
