Blackheads can be difficult to keep at bay, but if you take care of your skin properly and create some good routines, it is possible to get rid of the little black bandits. Here are 5 good tips for a little deep cleansing facial at home.

1. The good skincare routine

If you want the best remedy for blackheads, it is undoubtedly a good and regular skincare routine. Make sure that the skin is kept clean and that the skin’s moisture level is balanced. A good cleanser is essential. Here you can use, for example, the Rinse-off Foam Cleanser Mousse from Clinique. It is effective, gentle and suitable for all skin types.

2. Heat

The pores in the skin are a small muscle. It contracts when cold and relaxes when warm. This means that with heat you can get products to penetrate the skin better, but heat can also help clean the skin. If there is something in the pores, such as a blackhead, it is a good idea to either place a warm compress on the skin before you start removing blackheads on the nose or elsewhere. You can use this organic cotton cloth from The Organic Pharmacy. Both for cleansing, as an exfoliator and as a warm compress. Tip from Beautycos: Soak the cloth in water and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Make sure the cloth is not too hot before placing it evenly over the face.

3. Exfoliation

There are 3 types of exfoliation. 1. Mechanical exfoliation. This form can be felt by using small grains, salt, sugar or organic material to scrub away the dry and gray skin. A good peeling is a good remedy for blackheads.

2. Enzyme peeling, which uses enzymes such as papain, an enzyme from the papaya fruit, to break down the bonds between the dead skin cells so that you can easily wash them off.

3. The last method is fruit acids, also called AHA or BHA. The acid penetrates and etches the dead and gray skin cells, making them reveal the living layer. In addition to removing all dead skin cells, most peels also help stimulate skin cell renewal, allowing the skin to regain its vitality. If you suffer from blackheads or pimples, you may notice that the skin is rough because the pores are filled with sebum and dirt. Therefore, it is a good idea to exfoliate the skin regularly. If you use the mechanical form, it improves the structure, making the skin smooth and fine. This solution helps immediately, but since the pores are not cleaned thoroughly, there is a risk that the skin will become rough again in a short time. We therefore recommend using a mixture of mechanical, enzymatic and fruit acids. Then you will get the ultimate peeling. You can get a scrub that contains all 3 forms, but it is also entirely possible to use 2 or even 3 different scrubs to give the skin as much as possible. 4. Deep cleansing

If exfoliation is not enough to keep the skin free of blackheads, you can deep clean the skin every now and then. Here you have to be very careful and keep in mind that the blackhead may disappear, but if you press too hard you risk making a hole in the skin and it may leave scars. Make sure hygiene is top notch! The skin must be clean before you start, as well as the tools/fingers etc. that you will use during the deep cleansing. Prepare the skin with a warm bath or a warm wrap, then the pores will become flexible and will be easiest to clean deep down. You can choose to use a pair of rubber gloves. Fold a piece of paper around your index fingers and gently press around the blackhead. If the blackhead does not pop out of the skin, it is best to stop and return if necessary, another day. You can use a comedone/blackhead remover to treat blackheads. This way you avoid transferring bacteria from your fingers.

5. Mask against blackheads

A face mask against blackheads is an effective and quite pleasant thing to do 1-2 times a week, preferably in conjunction with your peeling for optimal effect. You can possibly use the mask in certain areas above the nose or on the chin. It could be the well-known Black Masque, also called a black face mask, that effectively combats the problem.
