As summer approaches and we look forward to getting out into the heat and enjoying the sun. We all know it well: “Think sunscreen“! But which one should you use and how do you make sure that both your body, face and hair are protected? Read on because we give you good tips on how to ensure optimal sun protection – without having to compromise on your tan. Our sun care guide also introduces you to our favorite sun care products that are indispensable on a warm and sunny summer day.

Which protection factor?

As a rule of thumb in terms of the amount of sunscreen for the face and neck, half a teaspoon is recommended. Use one teaspoon for each arm and leg. Apply an amount equivalent to a shot glass or espresso cup to the back, chest and stomach.

In terms of factor, we recommend that you use at least factor 15 – both in spring and summer. On the other hand, if you want to go out in the sun and heat of the south, we recommend that you go up to a factor of 20, 30 or 50.
When it comes to the difference between factors, it’s mainly about how long it takes to reapply to the skin. A factor 15 will need to be topped up much more often than a factor 30.
Factor is also about UV protection, which is the filter that protects against the sun’s UV rays and prevents sun damage/skin damage. Always use a higher factor on exposed areas such as the face, chest, shoulders, hands and neck to avoid sun damage. Also, always choose a sun factor that offers both UVA and UVB protection so you can ensure the skin is optimally protected.

Sun care for the face

Sunscreen for the face and body protects equally. However, the skin on the face is more sensitive than on the body. That’s why you need a cream that is milder for your face than for your body.
We recommend Australian Gold. This sunscreen is dermatologically tested, paraben-free and particularly hypoallergenic for sensitive skin. The sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Premium Coverage is quickly absorbed into the skin, so you’re ready to jump into the water or sunbathe. The product contains aloe vera and vitamin E, among other things, which ensures the best possible protection and care for your skin. The skin remains soft and moisturized.

If you can’t wait to get color naturally, Australian Gold has also developed a sunscreen with a tanning optimization effect called Coverage Faces SPF 45 M/Selftan, which allows you to gradually build color while sunbathing. The sunscreen promotes color and gives the skin a golden and natural result.

If you want extra protection for sensitive areas where you burn more easily, Australian Gold has developed a Face Guard. The Face Guard Stick is waterproof, sweatproof and oil-free, making it ideal for winter sports too. If you have tattoos that need extra protection from the sun, this stick is perfect.

Body sun care

If you want a sun spray that is quickly absorbed into the skin and protects against both UVA and UVB rays, Australian Gold’s Spray Gel Sunscreen might be for you.
This is a pump-spray sunscreen that is easy to apply and spread over the body. The product contains aloe vera, vitamin E, Australian tea tree oil and sunflower seed extract, among others, which ensures that the skin is protected and cared for in the sun. In addition, the product has a wonderful exotic scent that can remind you of a tropical vacation. The sun spray is available in factors 6, 10, 15 and 30.
If you can’t wait for the sun to give you the color you want, you can use Australian Gold Spray Gel Sunscreen M/Selftanner. This is a sun spray with an instant bronzer effect that gives you an instant temporary tan. The product contains natural caramel self-tanner, which ensures a darker color, while the SPF content protects the skin from the sun.

Sun care for hair

In addition to the body and face, it is also important to protect your hair from the sun. As a result of sun exposure, hair can become dry and its color can fade. With Sun Reflects UV Protect Spray from Goldwell you get a nourishing spray that both prevents and combats sun-stressed hair. The product not only moisturizes the hair, but also has integrated color protection that ensures that the sun does not fade the hair color. Simply spray the product into towel-dried hair and massage well into the hair. The product must not be rinsed out.

Sun care for the lips

Many people often forget that their lips also need special care in the sun. The skin on the lips, like on the face, is more delicate than on the rest of the body. Keep your lips moisturized and soft with a lip balm that both moisturizes and protects against the sun. Lip Balm SPF 30 from Australian Gold is easy to take on the go and provides perfect protection for your lips in the sun. The lip balm protects the lips with its high factor and provides additional moisture while also having a softening effect.

Good tips for sunbathing and care

  • Find a sun care product that suits your skin type
  • Only use your sun care products for one season and check the packaging to see how long the product will last after use
  • Always use a higher factor on exposed areas such as the face, chest, shoulders, hands and neck to avoid sun damage
  • Also, always choose a sun factor that offers both UVA and UVB protection so you can ensure the skin is optimally protected
  • In general, you should spend as little time in the sun as possible between 12.00-15.00
  • Always use waterproof sunscreen if you sweat a lot or have to go swimming – always remember to reapply after bathing
  • Always use sun protection products, no matter how tanned you are
  • Don’t stay in direct sunlight for too long at a time
  • Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before sunbathing
  • Place sunscreen in the shade when you are at the beach. If sunscreen is exposed to high heat, it will lose its effectiveness over time
