Most of us know them. The little dents and bumps on the thighs and buttocks. Cellulite is a cosmetic phenomenon. So it is not dangerous, physically limiting or harmful, but it affects the self-confidence of many women (and men). I got cellulite at a young age and it has been one of my biggest insecurities for many years. Cellulite is difficult to completely eliminate, but there are various tools that can reduce it. In this post I will tell you about a method that I have tested – namely dry brushing.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is
also known as orange peel skin. It is called orange peel skin because the skin has dents
and bumps that can resemble the texture of an orange peel.
Cellulite is in short an overfilled fat deposit in the subcutaneous tissue and most often appears on the buttocks, thighs and abdomen. It is something that can affect
anyone, whether you are slim or overweight. Some learn about it as early as puberty. Cellulite is often genetic, so if your mother has cellulite, you will probably experience it yourself at some point. But lifestyle and age also have an influence.
What is dry brushing?
Dry brushing has been used for hundreds of years to firm skin, and it is a method recommended by experts worldwide. Most people use dry brushing to prevent or reduce cellulite, but the method also has many other good properties:
- Removes waste products in the body
- Stimulates
- the connective tissue and the nervous system
- Increases
- blood circulation
- Removes
- dead skin cells
- Helps
- with ingrown hairs
- Improves the skin’s resilience
There are therefore many good reasons to get a dry brush. Dry brushing is also super easy and takes no more than 5 minutes.
I used the dry brush from The Organic Pharmacy. It is available here for a good price.
How does dry brushing work?
Dry brushing increases blood flow and this reduces the fat cells that form cellulite.
To see results, it is important that you remember to use the brush every day. It must be said that cellulite does not disappear overnight – here you should expect to dry brush for at least 3 months to be able to see noticeable results. Dry brushing must also be maintained if you want to maintain your results.

Result
Dry brushing was a special experience at first, but I quickly found that
I got used to the feeling. I have been testing dry brushing every day for a month and can already see a difference. My skin feels much softer and smoother and at the same time I find that
it looks smoother than before. Of course, I have not completely eliminated cellulite yet, as this requires a little more time. But I can feel that it is good for my skin and I will therefore continue.
I would highly recommend you to try dry brushing if you want to take care of your
body and be bikini ready.
It is important to note that there are different degrees of cellulite and skin also differs from person to person. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that you will achieve the same results as me within the same time. But be patient. In the end, it will pay off.
How to dry brush
The brush has a long handle so you can easily reach the whole body. To get the most out of the dry brushing properties, you should brush yourself everywhere. However, avoid brushing eczema, wounds, sunburned skin, varicose veins and blood clots.
It is best to brush in circular motions as this will give you a better grip on the tissue. You can also brush in long straight strokes and only in circular motions on the stomach and buttocks.
Start as far away from your heart as possible and work your way up.
Start at the feet and work your way up to the legs and buttocks. Then brush your hands and arms. From the arms, move to the stomach and chest. Finally, brush the back. Start at the neck/shoulders and work your way up to the lower back.
Skin care after dry brushing
Finish dry brushing with a moisturizing body care product. You can find a wide
range of good moisturizers here. My personal favorite brand is Babor. Here you get really good quality and Barbor at BEAUTYCOS is always free shipping. Find them here!
A little tip for the impatient
Are you impatient? Then I would recommend you to combine dry brushing with Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream by Caudalie. This cream has a firming effect and at the same time provides the skin with a lot of moisture.
