What is that?

7-skin originated in South Korea and has since attracted a lot of interest throughout the West. The popular method gets its trendy name because instead of a longer skincare routine, you use 7 layers of the same product. It is recommended to use 7 layers of toner without alcohol and fruit acids or an essence. Applying multiple layers of toner or essence will give your skin ultimate moisture and shine. In Korean, toner is actually called skin, so the method is called the 7-skin method.

The clever thing about using a water-based product is that your skin can absorb the product more easily. This means you get much more out of your product as it penetrates the skin better – rather than evaporating on the surface of the skin.

Who is the method aimed at?

The method is primarily aimed at people who suffer from dry skin. However, it first became popular with the combination skin group – however, this has beneficial effects on other skin types too. Most of us have dehydrated skin, so the method is brilliant as it never leaves the skin with an oily surface.

How do I do it?

Despite the very direct name that the method has received, it is indicative and can therefore be adapted if necessary. It is important to remember that nobody knows your skin better than you. It therefore varies greatly whether you need to use the method daily, a few times a week, for shorter periods of time or something completely different. You can also assess and check the need for the amount of product yourself. Many find great pleasure in using 3-5 layers of toner, so you can use less than 7 layers without any problem.

It is recommended to apply the first layer with a cotton pad, after which the rest can be applied with your hands. Use an amount about the size of 10 cents, as you will find that the skin cannot absorb a larger amount before the next layer. Apply to clean skin with an interval of 2-3 minutes between each layer. After the first layer, the skin will appear dry regardless of skin type, but this will change. Then just repeat until you feel comfortable and your skin feels saturated.
